Occupy Chicago, the Chicago protest affiliated with the Occupy Wall Street movement, had its own founder named Andrew Smith. Smith, a student web designer from Indiana, registered the occupychi.org website in LaPorte, Indiana. He manages the website along with two others. During the protest in Grant Park, Smith was among the 175 individuals arrested for defying orders to leave the area.
The arrest, surprisingly, was a somewhat calming experience for Smith. Anarchist Lisa Fithian, known for training protesters worldwide, provided guidance on civil disobedience to Occupy Chicago demonstrators. The Occupy Together website, which unifies global protests, was registered on June 9 by Kalle Lasn, a Canadian involved in the movement. Source: I-Team Report: The Occupiers
