To whom it may concern,
My name is Lori Gardi and I am from London Ontario Canada. I am a big supporter of the Occupy Movement (OM) and feel compelled to contribute in some manner. Although I cannot contribute money at this time, would like to contribute an idea that came to me shortly after the conception of OM. I cannot take full credit for this idea as the Universe is compelling me to do this and will not let me rest until it is done.
It occurred to me that, if September 17, 2011 was the conception date of OWS, then June 17, 2012 could be considered a due date or future “Birthday” of OWS. In other words, the birth hasn’t happened yet. With this analogy, OWS is now in its third trimester. This will be a very powerful time for this movement as it will only get stronger and better over the next three months.
I propose that we celebrate this day, June 17, 2012 as the actual birth day of OWS, which is where my idea comes in. I have started an initiative called DeclareWorldPeaceDay (OccupyWorldPeace). I imagine this day as a day, not only to celebrate world peace but to declare it officially. I envision all people carrying signs with the same message “I declare world peace” or “we declare world peace”. This is much different than the world peace celebrations that have been going on here and there in that this is a statement or declaration with a very clear message.
One of the main complaints about OWS was the fact that the message was unclear. This would be a huge statement with a clear message that everyone can agree on, including non OWS supporters. I hope that you will see the beauty in this idea and put DeclareWorldPeaceDay, June 17, 2012 on your calendar as a very special day for OWS and for the world. The war drums are beating but we can beat this with a simple declaration of world peace, by the people and for the people.
June 17 was the date that the Statue of Liberty was delivered to New York. This is the perfect day to resort liberty, freedom and peace as was intended by our constitutions and that exists in our hearts.
