Endorsing National Nurses United May 18th Protest Against th

National Nurses United, with close to 170,000 members in every state, is the largest union and professional association of registered nurses in the U.S. Last year, the NNU embarked on its Main Street Campaign, organizing a number of events across the nation demanding the passage of a Robin Hood Tax, which is a tax on Wall Street financial transactions. The movement for a Robin Hood Tax has since gone global, with three of the eight G8 nations close to adopting it; however, the U.S. and the Obama administration remain the largest obstacle for a global Robin Hood Tax.

The mere presence of the Occupy movement nationally has allowed us to gain much-needed national traction for the Robin Hood Tax. And it is without a doubt that without OccupyChicago and the rest of the national Occupy movement's support, the momentum for a Robin Hood Tax would not be as strong as it is today. OccupyChicago and the NNU have shown stood together many times the past few months.

Therefore, NNU along with its international allies propose that Occupy Chicago endorse and support in protesting the G8 demanding a global Robin Hood Tax on May 18th.

I support this!!

Did you email secretariat@occupychi.org, and get a date for when this is on the GA agenda?

Yes this was submitted to Secretariat, but scheduling is a bit different now that GA has passed the GA Empowerment proposal. You can see the current list at http://occupychi.org/secretariat/blog

This proposal was discussed last night and the GA agreed to take ownership of it and that it was ready for a vote on Monday. The response was quite positive.
