Dear Secretariat,

Here is a proposal for tomorrow night's GA; I apologize for the tardiness--there was a miscommunication among CACHE members about whether this had been done last week.

In solidarity,

Proposal: CACHE March 1st Action at Chase Tower

It is a widely recognized fact that American higher education has deteriorated into a form of indentured servitude: students cannot even begin the already desperate process of finding a job without taking out massive amounts of student debt. Student debt has become, in other words, the condition of the possibility of finding a job. On Thursday, March 1st, students across the country will stand in solidarity against this particular form of the 1%’s ongoing exploitation of the 99%. The Coalition Against Corporate Higher Education (CACHE) has called on students across the city to participate in this National Day of Action by walking out of their classes at 12pm, rallying with their fellow students by the Horse at 1pm, and marching together on Chase Tower at 1:30pm. As J. P. Morgan Chase is one of the world’s largest and most influential manufacturers of student debt, we will take the fight to them, demonstrating outside their headquarters in an expression of solidarity with students across the country and the world.

WHEREAS: Occupy Chicago stands in solidarity with any and all struggles against the exploitative practices of the 1%;

WHEREAS: the 1% and especially J. P. Morgan Chase continue to enthusiastically exploit college and university students by means of un-repayable student loans and predatory credit card opportunities;

BE IT RESOLVED that Occupy Chicago will endorse this action and support CACHE’s participation in the March 1st National Student Day of Action at Chase Tower.
