Proposal: Invite new members

Postby occupied » Sun Dec 18, 2011 10:30 pm

I was told I need to post this here for it to be considered, so I'm reposting in this forum:

Hello, I've been over to join the protests 4 times and I've been to the general assembly only once. I would like to suggest that you set a date to explicitly welcome people who haven't yet attended a rally or GA, or who haven't attended regularly. I know that anyone is welcome to attend and participate at any time, but I know I would be more motivated to attend if there were a "first timers day" where I could sit in on GA, where you reviewed how it works, take questions, and explain ways to get involved. Occupy Chicago has been ongoing for 3 months and it feels difficult to know where to jump in. I'm sure there are others who feel the same but aren't sure how to get involved and don't know who to ask since the movement is leaderless.

I've sent an email to the Welcoming Committee's Google group to see if the committee has any active members.
