I hear our donations our overflowing, why not distribute to homeless, laid off or those screwed by Bank of America. If we don't need it give it out.

Spiritual Affairs certainly appreciates your concern for those in need. We have no control over the distribution of donations, tho. However, I understand from GAs that the problem was not so much that OC doesn't need to use the donations for itself but that the mechanism for using -- and even encouraging -- online donations had to be worked out. To my mind, the Donations Committee has recently been making superb progress on that front. Please be patient with them.

Thank you,

In reality I guess my thoughts are already happening; however, not in a transparent manner, or one that others could be help out with. It is a disappointing answer that I received and shows how bad our ethics our in this organization. More Obamaesque hype.

Sorry that you were disappointed. As I said, tho, this committee (Spiritual Affairs) has no control over how funds are spent ... or, for that matter, received. And in fact, it's my understanding that even the Donations Committee will have no control over how donations are spent. That will be the bailiwick of the Treasury Committee (or whatever name they decide on), & that makes sense from the standpoint of having checks & balances.

May I ask how you would like to see those committees be more transparent? Maybe they think they are, & need you to tell them what you see missing. And how would you specifically like to help out? They might be very pleased to have your help if they knew what help you wanted to give. You might have a great idea they haven't even tho't of yet.
