Targeting ethnic neighborhoods

As a guy who wholeheartedly believes in the OWS cause, but who's cynicism, to this point, has overridden any ambition to join the movement (other than spending an hour or so at a few general assemblies), I have one question. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the movement seems to consist largely of white youth and lacks support from Chicago's ethnic communities. Specifically, support from people over 35, who have families and a mortgage. You know, people who remind you of your parents.

Again, I haven't really been involved with the protests to this point and my observations may be wrong, which is why I'm here. Chicago has a variety of ethnic communities filled with working class people who get all their information from the local news and the 24 hour news stations. Because of this, there is a severe lack of awareness within these communities as to what Occupy Chicago is working towards and how serious its presence really is. Little Village (Mexican), Bridgeport (Chinese), Pilsen (Mexican), Back of the Yards (Mexican), Avondale (Polish), Rogers Park (Indian), Humboldt Park (Puerto Rican/Mexican). These neighborhoods, among others, are where efforts by street teams who speak the language and who are armed with flyers that outline the cause and how it affects the citizens of the community, should be concentrated. Pass them out on busy streets, go door to door putting them in mailboxes, and talk to anyone who will listen. Numbers is what it takes to get real attention, so let's not forget that outside of Warsaw, Chicago has the largest population of Poles than any other city in the world and Outside of L.A. Chicago has the largest population of Mexicans in the U.S.. You get the picture.

So, is this something that is already being done? If not, it's crucial that these resources are tapped. I know Alley Cat does a lot of flyer distribution, but I get the sense that they're targeting the typical neighborhoods saturated with young people. Any clarity or input about this is appreciated.
