Mission Statement

Our mission is to find and acquire a safe, warm, low-risk and stable space for the coordination and organization of the movement in the cold winter months ahead. In addition we aim to establish satellite sites of operation for activities, community networking, and/or physical occupation.

Sub-statement/clarification:

As housing committee our immediate and primary goal is to find a space for the movement to survive the winter. This space will not be a place for people to sleep, but rather a safe place for meetings and organizational activities to occur. We plan to coordinate with other applicable committees to look into possible places for people to occupy this winter (for example: occupation of abandoned, empty, foreclosed upon or donated spaces [link]). It is probable that after our primary goal is accomplished we will shift gears to focus on the issue of housing people.

Hi All-

I'm willing to help my fellow occupychi citizens in anyway I can.
I have a one bedroom/one bath apartment. I live in Hyde Park alone,no pets,no children. Also,I'm a Flight Attendant.

This movement is very important to me and my plan is to stick with it.....it's now or never!!!!
If you have any questions please call 773 294 0574

Regards,
Alisa

Okay, I finally found this... I wish you had added high visibility to your search. Not only would a ground floor street level storefront keep you on the streets in the way, there is a glut of unused space in many Chicago neighborhoods.

Some of us our looking for properties with high visibility to present to the GA, please come tomorrow, Friday, Dec 9th at 6pm to 620 S. Dearborn to see the property that we found with high visibility and great space, and also to discuss all the properties at the GA at 7pm. Hopefully we can move the GA inside to one of the restaurants that Gigi found who would love to accommodate us, with no minimum spent per person and who have quiet spaces, so that we can have a reasonable discussion out of the cold.
Thanks, Dr. Lora
