Direct Action Committee? Hello? Anyone here?

We know not all committees are represented here. If you are a member of a committee and need a forum created for it let us know here. You can also use this to suggest the creation of additional committees.

I thought there was a forum for this committee, turns out I am mistaken.

But if no one has considered it yet, how about a candlelight vigil in Rahms hood?  (Perhaps this should be a Occupy the Hood initiative?)

Imagine a few hundred of us quietly occupying the sidewalks, quietly strolling single file around the block where his home is located.  We don't bunch up, we don't chant, we simply walk with the candles.

If we could manage to pull this off, and get plenty of press there, it might be pretty damn powerful and garner us some real support from the citizens who are going to be taxed on the freakin' air one day soon.

I agree the direct action committee needs a forum.I also believe that the more secure the forum is the better.I think the idea is a good one,I also believe in timing and if this is indeed a bid for coverage ,a move like this may be timed really well and made into an even more powerful assertion when their image is becoming tarnished.I believe that in order to create a momentum,we need to allow them to miss step and that miss step becomes more probable when they are angry. When their resources are strained, when a powerful association is made or brought to light,When public sympathy for this just cause is at a high pitch etc...would like to discuss this more...Dan

I agree - I think a direct action in Rahms neighborhood with candles mourning the loss of Chicago's 1st Amendment rights would be a great way to prove that the people are waking up and are ready to effect real change.

You can email this directly to the DAC @ http://www.occupychi.org/contact

Hey Dan -

I'll be downtown off and on from Monday thru Wednesday. Are you working with DAC? Is this something on the committee's radar? I agree - letting them mis-step in a big, public way is a tactic. But it feels like right now that they have us over a barrel, in that regard.

Hey Dan - Just saw your email addy on the listserv email going round from DAC, so I'm guessing you found the email list. :-) I would suggest sending your suggestion in that direction, since I don't think anyone from the committee is checking in here that often.
