So what happened? This site has been dead for a long time, hardly anyone replies to any of your posts on FB anymore. You posted a pic on FB stating it was from May 1, 2006, a downright lie. That pic was from an immigration rally. REally pathetic on your part. In desperation, you all sent an email blast to people and pissed off a huge number of them. You will be lucky to get 500 on May 1st. NATO, you'll be ignored. It may help if your PTB don't attack people that have something to say about your group. After all, you've aligned yourselves with occupy Oakland and Anonymous which both are know for violence but you say you are non-violent.

Sad, I actually supported you all last Fall, stopped by L and J with coffee and stuff and then when you move to Cermak, I gave up. The PTB hide over there, NO ONE feels welcome and then it came out that you were spending 7,000 dollars for what? A few losers to view porn on the internet is all I've heard. Too far away from the mainstream.

The concert you promoted was a joke. I tell everyone student I know to stay away. By the way, the young kid, with no money and no ride anywehre that follows OC has serious issues. He's harmless but if something happens to him it's on your back.

If you are not interested in the success of the people struggling for social justice, then why are you here? Shouldn't you "get a job" and use your time more wisely elsewhere? I'd hate to compare our incomes and find you were lacking after what you've said to me.

Thanks for supporting Occupy Chicago and also thank you for posting your thoughts. I'm pretty sure there are many people who share your frustration. And even though I am still active, I certainly am affected by some of the issues you've mentioned. And I know many others around here are feeling a similar frustration. But I feel deep down we are all hoping to turn it around.

For the record Occupy Chicago is clearly dedicated to non-violent action and this is stated on Who We Are section of our website as well as in a separate Declaration of Non-Violence page.

Regarding the kid you mentioned, is he the minor who run away from his home out of state? If so, we worked with his mother and NLG and he has safely returned back to his family.

Regarding Cermak many people probably agree with you especially after seeing that it has not been utilized as much as we hoped. But when the proposal was presented in December, it was supported by a majority of GA and we in fact used it for several GAs and meeting during the winter. The one issue you mentioned with abusing Internet access was a problem caused by an individual who just decided to abuse our space. And we unanimously voted to ban him from getting access to OC space as he, surprisingly, refused all diplomatic attempts to resolve the issue.

One thing we also have failed is in establishing code of conduct. It's sad to see individuals attack and take out their frustration on others and get away with it. Violence can be non-physical and at times words are even more hurtful than physical pain. Internal fights is in my opinion one of the big reasons a lot of people ended up walking away. We need to learn to remain civil during hard times and avoid engaging in flame wars and personal attacks. I invite you to read Ubuntu code of conduct. You can find it here http://www.ubuntu.com/project/about-ubuntu/conduct. This is a good example of how a non-profit organization successfully established an effective structure to organize volunteers across the world. And I bet they didn't come up with this over a few months. It takes a lot of learning (aka mistakes) and hard work to achieve success and when you talk activism, odds are against us because powerful organizations are targeting and attacking us from every angle. So let's not battle over a few past mistakes and in stead focus on the change we would like to see.
