Lobbying knowledge or resources

Postby BenBurton » Thu Jan 19, 2012 7:26 pm

Put plainly I think we need to allocate some resources towards political change. Something like supporting Senator Sanders' Amendment to revoke Citizen's United.

Assuming we had access to unlimited funds, what would we do to support that amendment?

COPIED FROM CREDO - Sign the petition if you want to do something today!
NOTE: This is one of the many actions that are taking place on this issue. The details matter less at this point that making enough noise that the ISSUE gets taken up an seriously worked on. Make a little noise today.

"The Citizens United vs. FEC Supreme Court decision overturned over a century of precedent and opened the floodgates for unlimited amounts of corporate money to flow into our political system.

Shockingly, the court came to this decision based on the notion that a corporation is legally a "person" entitled to First Amendment rights, and by equating a corporation's right to spend unlimited amounts of money influencing an election with the our right to free speech.

Tell your senators and member of Congress to support a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and end corporate personhood."

With all the meaningful petitions that are out there we should have a thread just for them. That way everyone can be involved. There are people who can not get out for different reasons and this would there way to do something.

Exactly! That's something we want to work on. Hopefully Ben will get this out on the Social Media. And it would be great to create a byline for people to find us under in forums... until we get a permanent place on the website??
"Take Action in 5minutes or Less"

I'm looking for input on the intro, like what I posted here.

I think a collection of supported petitions would be fantastic, although I'm not sure it has much to do with Lobbying. I ran across lobbyit.com and wondered if it could be a useful resource, and then wondered what would be the correct place to go for that info if lobbyit.com isn't any good.

I'm new to the topic and don't live in DC. More info would be great.
