April 7th Advertising.

I haven't seen any real advertising like posters or video online for the Chicago Spring. We have to develop and share these so we can get the word out. This is what made Occupy Congress so successful. I designed two digital posters already. I would like to see others getting involved and sharing their creativity.

Here's a cool tool that similar to GIMP, but online, you can use. (It's free) I used this to create the posters above. It's very easy to use.

Secondly Video, We have to make powerful YouTube videos. I have two years of video-editing class experience so I can produce some also. I use Final Cut Pro at school, but I don't own a Mac at home so I found this free and open source program for those who like FCP to make professional video.

I have been working on a poster for Chicago Spring that I think a lot of people will really like.

I heard we (Occupy Chicago) were having something of a design contest to encourage designers to create visual media around April 7th & May 1st, but deadlines and process for aforementioned spec. contest was not made clear.

Irregardless, talented individuals really should be working on developing flyers, posters, videos and other media for Chicago Spring.

This will certainly be on our agenda for discussion at our next visual committee meeting on Monday, Jan 30th, at 5:30 pm.
