The New Majority 52%
The New Majority 52%
Independent Voters are now the majority with 52% of the Electorate.
With that ability Occupy could very well put forth candidates in all
50 States.
There are great Candidates out there.
And if America Votes does get all 50 states for a Possible Independent
Candidate Occupy could be part of the effort to secure Candidates.
What I have gone through living in Jackson Wyoming to protect my Civil Liberties is an eye opener to the World...this is home to Dick Cheney
and every Corporation who profited from 8 yrs of Bush. Halliburton to
Goldman-Sachs.
I want a real American President ..........not Obama and not any of the
Republicans.

Re: The New Majority 52%
i think we could see parallel campaigns arise with occupiers working in them and using their personal networks. there are people who bring fliers for their campaigns to occupy events.
without needing to officially endorse specific candidates i think the movement could work in tandem with some people, but it would only work as long as they really shared the same values. It would be a partnership built out of action, not decisions or talk. Their involvement in occupy would be their campaign, which would still be theirs personally.
We might in the future, for instance, with good donations channels and a treasury system, give small grants to occupiers or reimbursements for work they've done and costs they incur. OWS does something like this.
If we decided as a tactic to get involved in electoral politics, we could give small grants (around $20) to individual occupiers for transportation and materials to educate the public on policy issues using various tactics.
It would be up to the individuals to include information from specific candidates and they would do so if they believed in the candidates. It would be up to the candidates to prove themselves through their involvement to gain the voluntary support of individuals engaging in occupy chicago electoral policy education outreach. The official occupy stuff would be about the issues only, but if people knew candidates who had platforms with those issues, they could choose to include them like individuals choose what to include on signs they bring to rallies and events at occupy chicago.
This is one idea for how we could be directly active in our current political system without as a group making any decision (which would ultimately be divisive) about endorsing any candidate.
Where did you get the 52% statistic?
