Hey All,
I miss you. Let's see each other soon. Any thoughts on the upcoming December Holy Days? Kwanza, X-mas, Hanukkah, Fiesta de la Posada, etc. The OccupyJudaism National Working Group is talking about Decolonize Chanukkah.
I hope yer all doing well.

Very good question. Chanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, & Gregorian New Year's are all coming up. So we have a good opportunity to support our fellow Jewish (Chanukkah), Christian (Christmas -- both 12/25 for some branches & 1/6-7 for others -- & Gregorian New Year), & African American (Kwanzaa) Occupiers.

Unfortunately, we've already blown past Ashura (Shi'a Islam); & Bodhi Day (Buddhism) is tomorrow, which is pretty short notice to do something.

OTOH, we also have time to do things this month & next for days like Yule (Wiccan), Zarathosht Diso (Zoroastrian), Gantan-sai (Shinto), Birth of Guru Gobindh Singh (Sikh), World Religion Day (Baha'i), Martin Luther King Day (African American), Chinese New Year (Oriental), & Vasant Panchami (Hindu).

I've seen that there are 2 routes we can go with this kind of thing. One is for only the committee members who belong to a particular Faith to host an OC event & expect most of the attendees to be members of that Faith, including bringing in lots of peole who aren't Occupiers.

The other is for the whole committee to host a series of OC events celebrating various Faiths (including, if we can work it out, Faiths that have no members currently on the committee) & encouraging Occupiers of all -- or no particular -- Faiths to attend all the events in a show of solidarity & a culture of learning, without necessarily expecting other people from those Faiths to come in for the event.

(Yes, a combination of the 2 would be great, but it hasn't worked out that way very much so far.)

Which seems better from both the standopint of feasibility & that of being in the best spirit of the Movement? Anyone willing to consult together & work on this?
