“Sit Down and Shut Up” Ordinances Passed in Chicago City Council
Joint statement by Coalition Against NATO/G8 War & Poverty Agenda (CANG8) and Occupy Chicago
At 12:30 today, Rahm Emanuel officiated over the death of the Bill of Rights in the City Council chambers.
We have the right to protest against war, austerity, and inequality. Mayor Emanuel, you’ll see us in the streets of Chicago: our streets.

I'm sending this message to let you all know that we, your neighbors here in Indiana, are behind you. A group from Indy, The Nomads, and a group from NW Indiana (Crown Point) will be there to meet you and stand in solidarity with Occupy Chicago on Wednesday, January 25th. Time to be determined. Many from Indy will travel to Crown Point on Wednesday morning. We will march through the square and the Lake County Court House at 10 am. Shortly after we will take the South Shore to downtown. We would like to meet up with you. At the very least we will be at the GA at 7pm. Look forward to hearing back from you. Peace
~Stef

Re: “Sit Down and Shut Up” Ordinances Passed in Chicago City
Is Mayor Emanuel prescribing the silence of the cemetery and the tranquility of the graveyard for Chicagoans during the so-called “G-8 Summit” in order to bestow upon the Heads of State conference attendees the fascistic comforts of communist totalitarianism?
“Samuel Adams said the opposite of SAFETY is "the animating contest of freedom."
“When the spirit of liberty, which now animates our hearts and gives success to our arms*, is extinct, our numbers will accelerate our ruin and render us easier victims to tyranny. If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom—go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
* Note that Adams and the Founding Fathers believed they were engaged in a defensive war against tyranny.
(Excerpted from Internet Web Site)
Mayor Rahm Emanuel in Chicago wants to give the “G-8 Comrades” meeting there in May 2012 a “comfort-environment” crouched with cemetery silence and tombstone tranquility, reminiscent of Soviet dictatorships wherein “peaceful coexistence” amounted to the moral and practical equivalence of voluntary servitude.
Mayor Emanuel: This is the United States of America, of which, Chicago, is a city, and not “the killing fields” of “serene Cambodia” where Poll Pot had orchestrated “the bloody tranquility” of now-entombed-millions who only aspired to attain, obtain and enjoy the same God-endowed liberty that we, Americans, are blessed to enjoy, by the grace of our Lord, since Anno Domini 1776.
The First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America reads:
“CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF; OR ABRIDGING THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH, OR OF THE PRESS, OR THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE PEACEABLY TO ASSEMBLE, AND TO PETITION THE GOVERNMENT FOR A REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES.”
The First Amendment does not say “except when there is a G-8 summit meeting in Chicago.”
Therefore, limitations, “pre-emptive strikes,” and restrictive conditions being imposed upon Americans by the City Council of Chicago from mayoral prompting are patently unconstitutional, unlawful, and illegal.
“…That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”
(Declaration of Independence of the United States of America, AD 1776)
The sworn duty of all public officials at the local, State and federal levels is to defend, protect and preserve the Constitution of the United States that guarantees security for our God-endowed inalienable rights, and not to transmogrify our cities into “tranquil cemeteries” and “silent graveyards” for the “comfort” of foreign Heads of States conferencing therein while pandering “the virtues of Globalism.”
We have the God-given inalienable constitutional rights to local self-government. And government’s obligation to preserve them transcends and supersedes the “comfort-needs” of foreign Heads of State as advocates of Globalism.
The “laws” enacted by the Chicago City Council, unlawfully and destructively favor foreign Heads of State to the detriment and disadvantage of our citizens, whose constitutional Bill of Rights is being overridden by mayoral interests in promoting, advocating and supporting “high-finance Globalism,” at the expense of our God-established U.S. Constitution and inalienable rights and State of Illinois Constitution.
Globalism masquerades as “economic democracy,” but it is rife with false promises and baseless projections of “worldwide prosperity,” while in reality aiming to crush local autonomy and national sovereignty; override local laws and constitutional due process of law; and abolish representative democracy and republican self-government.
Thus, Globalism is a “gilded cage” masquerading as “economic democracy,”—framed within false promises of future wealth, yet, without the blessings of personal freedom.
The United States of America is a free nation and a prosperous country. We have a republic here, a constitutional democracy whose sole governmental purpose is to secure our God-given inalienable constitutional rights as delineated in the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.
Thus, there is no place here for the “tranquility of the cemetery,” “the peace of the graveyard,” or “the silence of the tombs” unlawfully imposed upon our American neighbors in Chicago, due to misplaced “kowtowing concerns” of the Mayor’s Administration that is bent on “not offending the tyrannical sensibilities of G-8 comrades” attending the “Globalism Summit” there.
Totalitarian fascism lauds the pretended merits of “domestic tranquility” predicated upon government tyranny and official despotism, as coaxed through fear of government retaliation, official intimidation, prior restraint, prior censorship, bills of attainder and ex post facto laws. Such tactics, methods, and devices are fascistic tools of totalitarianism that are intended to mold-and-fashion “the peace of the cemetery,” “the silence of the tombs,” and “the tranquility of the graveyard.”
These government tactics are expressly prohibited by the U.S. Constitution and the Constitution of every State in this blessed American Union.
As the newly enacted “laws” in Chicago flagrantly violate the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Illinois by abrogating rights, immunities and privileges of citizenship of the American people that are already secured and guaranteed by the equal protection of the laws as prescribed in the XIVth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, we would urgently recommend that these ad hoc “globalism-fostered laws” be summarily repealed by the Chicago City Council, in faithful abidance to our American constitutional principles of Liberty that guarantee the security for our God-endowed inalienable Bill of Rights freedoms.
God bless you.
God bless the United States of America where God-endowed human liberty was birthed on the Earth in Anno Domini 1776, to constructively endure and constitutionally perpetuate for all generations and for all our Posterity to come.
