Midwest Tax Increment Financing Redevelopment Plan

Postby croatanmanitoac » Sun Mar 04, 2012 8:27 pm

Hi all!

I don't know if this is the best forum on the website for this, but I was wondering if anyone involved with Occupy is living near the Douglas Park area and received a notice about this 1:00 pm March 13th hearing. Has anyone actually gone to City Hall to view these documents? Call Beth McGuire at 312-744-4772 between 9 and 4, M-F, if you're interested and would like to inquire whether these can be scanned into PDF, how they may be viewed, and so forth.

I have obligations that day, but the fact that "the proposed Plan provides that the City may carry out certain public improvements in the Area [...]", etc. etc. should be of interest. There's no reason that citizens shouldn't be aware of what that entails and broach the possibility of residential involvement if this is not really the case at the present. Why aren't there visible, public greywater recycling setups, composting toilets, open food forests, and improved educational and community health facilities, if these are not part of the stated improvements?

I hope this is useful!

All the best,
Joshua
