I am writing you because Teamsters Local 743 represents workers at Sacred Heart Hospital on the West Side of Chicago. For the last several months we have been struggling to get a fair and just contract negotiated for our members at Sacred Heart. The Hospital is offering no wage increases and they are threatening to take away the reimbursement for health insurance. These employees make between $9 and $12 per hour. These are hard working men and women struggling to survive these hard economic times.
In order to put pressure on hospital management I am organizing a prayer vigil for outside the entrance of the hospital. This is where you all come in! In order to be successful we need to show the hospital management that we are serious and we will not back down until a truly fair contract is negotiated.
Here is the vigil information:
“All We Want for Christmas is a FAIR CONTRACT”
Fair Wages and Benefits at Sacred Heart Hospital
Prayer Vigil and Rally
Thursday December 15th
3:30 pm-5:00 pm
Sacred Heart Hospital
3240 West Franklin Blvd
Chicago, IL 60624
I would like to encourage clergy and religious, community leaders, and activists to turn out in support of Sacred Heart workers. If any of you have any contacts that might be useful in this effort I would greatly appreciate their names, e-mail addresses, and phone numbers. Furthermore, please let me know if you are able to attend so that I can keep you abreast of developing details.
Thank you for taking time to read this! I hope to hear from you all soon. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call me.
