Some of my ideas for local proposals:

Mandate acceptance of LINK card at all farmer's markets and food outlets in the city.

Put an immediate end to gentrification as a development tool and official policy. To end gentrification in Chicago we have to focus on the City Council, their campaign contributors, their links to the Democratic and Republican parties and their jurisdiction over zoning and other issues in the wards.

If we can't declare an end to gentrification as a development tool, we can at least demand equal investment across the city, so we don't have Garfield Park and the West Loop on the same train line but at opposite ends of the economy.

I think another good local grievance is to tax the board of trade! Some combination of a financial transaction tax, financial speculation tax, and capital gains tax would be great!

I like the ideas that come from a positive action stand point like helping make local grown food more accessible. Working with the people we like instead of against the ones we don't seems like a better idea.

One idea I do like that comes from a negative stand point is looking into what it would take to circulate a petition to remove Mayor Emanuel. But that is more action than a grievance.
