Occupy The Midwest Funds Proposal

From March 15th to the 18th the city of St. Louis will be hosting the Occupy the Midwest Conference. At this conference cities from all around the Midwest region will converge on St. Louis which will facilitate brain storming, direct action planning, teach-ins, and general assemblies. Occupy Chicago has already endorsed this event on January 14th and many of its members plan on attending the event.

This is a great opportunity for us to prepare for NATO/G8 as well as spread the word on April 7th, our plans for May 1st, and the music fest. There are a lot of volunteers from different cities helping organize this event and since the involvement of the Midwest cities in events just mentions will be paramount it would be in our best interest for this event to be as successful and productive as possible.

With that in mind St. Louis does not have all the resources and financial abilities available to them as we do. So I propose that we chip in either a small monetary contribution, and/or supplies to be used during the conference.

I have 3 proposed monetary donation numbers and a list of supplies that are needed during the conference. First we will vote on whether or not the General Assembly is in favor of allocating Occupy Chicago funds for this event. If that passes we will vote on whether we will allocate fund only for monetary donations, only for supplies donations, or both. Then we will vote on each point in each category (meaning monetary vs. supplies). Also take note that if we choose to give supplies donations we can choose to let those supplies be used during the conference and then brought back with us after the event (meaning there is no real “loss”, we basically end up buying something that we were going to buy anyways, but we just let someone else use it first)
