Emergency proposal for TONIGHT

Within the next week, members of a coalition planning on participating in the G8/NATO summits will be meeting with corporate council for the city, the CPD and possibly the secret service.

Yesterday, January 24, reps from Occupy Chicago met with a group of activists incuding reps from CANG8, Stand Up Chicago, the ACLU, the People's Law Office and the NLG. The consensus at the meeting was to meet with the city as a bloc early next week. The purposes of this meeting are to gain information about police and fed response at the summits.

Areas if note include: parade routes, protocols for mass arrests, procedures for dispersal orders, how and if we will be able to recognize deputized agents, timelines for determining dead zones at hotels of dignitaries, downtown and at the convention center itself.

The ACLU believes, and the Peoples Law Office concurs, that having this meeting now will make easier any future court action, and likewise help us avoid unnecessary arrests.

No information will need to be given by Occupy Chicago at this meeting, nor will we be signing anything or making any confidentiality agreements.  This is an opportunity for gathering information.

The group decided 1 to 2 reps from each organization was ideal. We propose sending representatives from OC to this meeting in order to aid our operations and action planning by gathering information as well as to strengthen the alliances we have with other groups who will be present at the NATOG8 summit.
