Financial Reformation, Martin Luther-style

So, I had a brilliant idea, maybe to be performed by Flying Squads on multiple targets, maybe to be performed in one big political spectacle with an audience and an austere moment. I say we draft a 95 Theses, detailing the crimes daily and increasingly wreaked upon the 99% (in fact, maybe 99 Theses, though that deviates from the historical inspiration), pulling in suggestions until we get enough good ones, and the more expansive the better (not just politico-economic malfeasance and cronyism in DC and in Chicago, but also environmental deregulation, a refusal to pass a jobs bill to work on our crumbling infrastructure, and many many more).

Well, anywho, once we have our 95-99 Theses, chosen by popular consent, we do as Martin Luther did, and nail them to the Church door in the middle of the town square. In this case, of course, Too Big To Fail banks/Capitol Hill are the Churches that reign over us, demanding obeisance and selling off indulgences in acts of absolute hypocrisy: indulging the rich by selling political offices, favors, deregulation; faulty loans and crazy speculation with money stolen from Church collections and mandatory tribute, that is, our savings and retirements, and taxes used to award CEOs for their machinations; getting bailed out and loaned even more money at 0% interest, all the while preaching deregulation and free market principles).

The culmination will be the nailing of the Theses to the church door, with the nailer dressed as Martin Luther, full grey beard and tonsured head, more or less, maybe receiving assistance from two or three similarly dressed priestly friends. I would also suggest we reach out to Occupy movements across the country, and perhaps do this in a Day of Church Reformation, because the Temple of Capitalism has clearly lost its moral compass (not that it ever had one, but you get the point), and because it is everywhere, penetrating every facet of our lives.

If reactions are positive, I'd like to present this idea at the next GA, and move to begin collecting proposals for Theses :) And yes, there is the question of destruction of private property with a hammer and nail, so alternatives are possible.

Let's get together and work on messaging. I have some ideas I'd like to share with you, love the idea of directly delivering a message, love the repetition, not sure that it needs to be so literally tied to Martin Luther's action. email me?

HI Mary, I emailed you per your request, but still not reply. Since I want to start collecting input from other members of Occupy, I may have to move forward on this without your prior input...

L'
I didn't receive your email, here or at clear.net.
Still interested in messaging and looking for opportunities. It's not possible to do this kind of writing in the google group setting. I understand your needing to move forward and you'll find people ready for action over at DA.

Regarding the Tax issue I brought up. I was thinking of it as an issue with a big hook that might be used to draw people into thinking about the larger issue which they just can't seem to get.

I used it as an example because it's a simple concept to draw analogies from. To build discontent an unrest.

We would have to talk about how radical we are on an individual basis because the term is so relative.

Thanks for responding
