In times of trial and tribulation, we have to support each other. All across the United States and the world, the people are rising up to speak truth to power, and facing harsh political repression as a result. Below is a request for help from a member of Occupy, please share widely and help this activist win his release. Thank you.

HELP GET DJ OUT OF COOK COUNTY JAIL NOW!!
Danny Johnson, Occupy Los Angeles and Occupy Walk USA participant, was arrested in Chicago on May 15th during an immigrants' rights protest leading up to the NATO summit. He was arrested and falsely charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, a felony. His charges were later dismissed by a Cook county judge, due to a lack of clear intent or evidence. Under political pressure to vindictively target noNATO protesters, State Attorney Anita Alvarez later appealed to a secret grand jury to reinstate the charges, which they did, and a warrant was issued for Danny’s arrest. Danny voluntarily turned himself in on July 30thin an attempt to clear his name. Bail has been set at $75,000. We will need $7,500 to get Danny out of Cook County jail, where he is being held in a maximum security facility. At this point we have raised approximately $2,000 and need to raise another $5,500. Once bond is posted, he will be on house arrest through an electronic monitor ankle bracelet at a local church, which has generously agreed to house him throughout his case and trial.
Danny has been committed to nonviolence throughout his extensive involvement in the Occupy movement. Since February he has been walking across the United States to raise awareness about social and economic justice. He is the father of a 5 year old little girl. Please help by clicking on the link below and making a financial contribution, as well as by circulating this appeal widely to get Danny out of jail, to defeat these charges, and return him to his commitment to create social and economic justice for not only us, but for the future of his daughter and her generation.
If anyone would like to give a larger donation, perhaps $500-$1000, 90% of the bond will be refunded after DJ’s trail, regardless of outcome (at latest, 9-12 months from now). So a loan rather than a straight donation is possible. If you would like to discuss the option of a larger loan donation with a 90% reimbursement after trial, please contact us as soon as possible at email@example.com.
AND PLEASE CIRCULATE TO ANYONE YOU THINK MIGHT BE ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE A LOAN DONATION, OR ANY DONATION.
