You're invited to an open workshop on Race & The Occupy Movement: The Elephant in the Room. Part 3

Join a dialogue on Race struggles in Chicago's Occupy Movement at 63rd and Woodlawn, site of ongoing occupation by the Mental Health Movement - across from the Woodlawn Mental Health Clinic. CTA Cottage grove stop on Green Line.

Racial oppression is the biggest elephant in the room that folks keep tip-toeing around! It is impossible to build a sustainable Movement without trust, empathy, and open communication. In short, the Movement can only go so far unless we have a deliberate plan for dissolving racial divides among the 99%. We will host this forum to offer a safe space for this kind of planning to begin.

This is the second in a series of interactive workshops dealing with race and the Movement. If you did not attend the first one then don't worry we will review the last workshop before proceeding with Part 2.

The solutions offered at the first workshop were:

-Regularly Scheduled Meetings (every two weeks)
-Orientation/Welcoming Committee (for OC)
-Social Education (fellowship with each other)
-Personal Responsibility/Accountability
-GA Reform (conducive to people joining)
-Show Up to events, meetings, actions etc.
-Intercultural Dialogues
-Visit Neighborhoods
-Build Comradery with food, music & sports
-Offer Solidarity not Charity
-Reach out to Established Organizations in Communities of Color
