Occupied News

After months of organizing, Occupy Evanston managed secure a Evanston City Council hearing and meeting with City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz on divesting from Chase bank. At the City council meeting this Monday, City Council members unanimously authorized the city manager to issue a request for proposals for a local bank that could replace Chase. Occupy Evanston is calling on occupiers to keep the pressure on the Evanston City Council members by calling and emailing them and letting them know that you support Occupy Evanston's campaign for the City of Evanston to divest its holdins in Chase Bank and shift them to a community bank.

And don't forget your pots and pans! The march will start at Sheffield and Belden, leaving at 5pm. Postal Workers and concerned citizens will be holding a Solidarity Rally in Support of the 10 hunger strikers currently in DC calling on Congress to Stop Starving the Post Office. #J2 Occupy the #NATO5 Courtroom: Arraignment

Monday, July 2, 8:00AM-12:00PM
Cook County Criminal Courts, 2600 S. California Ave.
Monday, July 2, 4:00PM
US Prison Bureau, 71 W. Van Buren St. (Van Buren & Clark)

Our friends remain locked away from this world because Mayor 1% Rahm Emanuel and Chief Garry McCarthy needed to justify police harassment, intimidation, brutality, and repression leading up to the NATO Summit. Our Occupy brothers Brian Church, Jared Chase, Brent Betterly, Sebastian Senakiewicz and Mark Neiweem will be in Cook County Court for their arraignment and we, as their comrades, will demonstrate our support. Wear yellow and bring noisemakers to show solidarity with their state-mandated prison uniforms. There will be a press conference at 8:30AM, court arraignment at 9:00AM, demonstration at 10:00AM, and then a 4:00PM rally in the afternoon at the US Prison Bureau. Occupy Independence

Ie food, teach-ins, occupy themed games (like tax dodge ball), many drum circles, a patch project, and art installations. The whole thing will kick off at 4pm, and will end with a march, of course. But a march with a surprise* ending!
